Ahaziah
Sixth King of Judah
A short-reigning king of Judah whose close ties to Ahab's dynasty led him into its sins and into Jehu's bloody purge.
Biography
Ahaziah was a son of Jehoram and Athaliah. Influenced by his mother's family, he followed the ways of Ahab's house. He joined King Joram of Israel in war against Hazael of Aram at Ramoth-gilead and later visited the wounded Joram at Jezreel. During that visit Jehu arrived after being anointed to destroy Ahab's dynasty. Ahaziah fled but was pursued and mortally wounded. Chronicles interprets his presence with Joram as part of God's judgment.

Ahaziah's brief reign demonstrates how Judah's entanglement with Ahab's dynasty produced spiritual compromise and political disaster.
