Abdon son of Hillel was one of the judges of Israel mentioned briefly near the end of Judges 12. He came from Pirathon in the land of Ephraim and judged Israel for eight years. Scripture records that he had forty sons and thirty grandsons who rode on seventy donkeys, a detail that suggests a large and prominent family. After his period of leadership, Abdon died and was buried at Pirathon in the hill country of Ephraim. The Bible gives no account of battles, deliverances, or prophetic acts associated with him, so his life should not be expanded beyond the limited information preserved in the text.
