Jair was a judge of Israel from Gilead who served for twenty-two years and whose thirty sons governed thirty towns.
Biography
Judges 10:3-5 says Jair the Gileadite judged Israel twenty-two years. He had thirty sons who rode thirty donkeys and possessed thirty towns in Gilead, known in the text as Havvoth-jair. Jair died and was buried at Kamon. Scripture records no particular battle or deliverance associated with him.
Biblical Significance
Jair's notice suggests an era of regional prominence and prosperity in Gilead. Like the other minor judges, his brief record marks God's continuing provision of leadership while moving the narrative toward the Ammonite crisis.
