Jehu

At Elisha's direction, a prophetic messenger secretly anointed Jehu at Ramoth-gilead. Jehu's fellow officers proclaimed him king, and he immediately drove to Jezreel. He killed King Jehoram of Israel, and Ahaziah of Judah was also mortally wounded during the coup. Jezebel was thrown from a window and died, and Jehu proceeded to eliminate Ahab's descendants and associates. He then gathered Baal worshipers under the pretense of a great sacrifice and destroyed them and their temple. Nevertheless, Jehu retained Jeroboam's golden calves at Bethel and Dan. God commended his execution of judgment on Ahab's house and promised four generations of descendants on Israel's throne, but Kings faults him for not walking wholeheartedly in God's law.
