Ahab

Ahab son of Omri married Jezebel of Sidon and promoted Baal worship, building a temple and altar for Baal in Samaria. Elijah announced a drought and later confronted Ahab and the prophets of Baal on Mount Carmel. Ahab also fought Aramean enemies and at times experienced God's unexpected military deliverance. In the affair of Naboth's vineyard, Ahab coveted Naboth's inheritance; Jezebel arranged Naboth's judicial murder, and Ahab took possession. Elijah pronounced severe judgment on Ahab's house. Ahab later sought to retake Ramoth-gilead despite the prophet Micaiah's warning and died in battle from an apparently random arrow, fulfilling prophetic words concerning his death.
