Amram

Amram was a Levite of the clan of Kohath, husband of Jochebed, and father of Aaron, Moses, and Miriam.
Biography
Exodus and Numbers place Amram within the tribe of Levi and identify Jochebed as his wife. Their children became central figures in the Exodus generation: Miriam watched over the infant Moses, Aaron became Israel's first high priest, and Moses led Israel from Egypt and mediated the covenant at Sinai. Scripture gives relatively little narrative detail about Amram himself, concentrating instead on the faithful action of Moses' parents in preserving their son during Pharaoh's decree against Hebrew male infants. Hebrews 11 praises Moses' parents for hiding him by faith and not fearing the king's command.
Biblical Significance
Amram belongs to the family through which God raised Israel's principal Exodus leaders. His household stands at the beginning of the deliverance story and is associated in Hebrews with courageous parental faith.
