A week is a period of seven days, ordinarily six days of work followed by a Sabbath rest. This ancient division shaped Israel’s calendar and worship and also appears in prophetic expressions in Daniel.
Biblical Usage
The week is connected with creation and Sabbath rest and appears in Israel’s feasts, offerings, ordinary reckoning, and Daniel’s prophetic periods. The New Testament also reflects the seven-day division.
