Thieves, The two
Salvation • New Testament
The two thieves were criminals crucified alongside Jesus. One mocked him, while the other confessed his guilt, acknowledged Jesus’ innocence, and asked to be remembered when Jesus came into his kingdom.
Biblical Usage
The penitent criminal’s request and Jesus’ answer form the central biblical significance of the account. The two crosses also increased the disgrace associated with Jesus’ crucifixion.
