Tabor
Tabor was primarily Mount Tabor, a prominent isolated mountain near the plain of Esdraelon, associated with Barak’s battle against Sisera. The name also refers to a town or locality connected with Zebulun.
Biblical Usage
Barak assembled his forces on Mount Tabor before descending against Sisera. Tabor is mentioned as a boundary and is associated with the murder of Gideon’s brothers. The name also appears in lists of towns and Levitical settlements. The tradition that Jesus was transfigured there is described as unfounded.
