The tabernacle was the portable sanctuary where God’s presence dwelt among Israel during the wilderness journey and later at various locations. It contained the holy place and the Most Holy Place and foreshadowed God’s dwelling with his people.
Biblical Usage
The tabernacle was the place where God promised to meet with Israel and dwell among them. Its services and arrangement are treated as a type pointing to the work of Christ. The veil, priestly service, sacrifices, and access to the holy places receive particular attention in Hebrews.
