SONG OF SONGS

Scripture • Old Testament
The Song of Songs is a poetic book celebrating love and marriage. It has traditionally been read both as a beautiful expression of human love and, by many Jewish and Christian interpreters, as suggestive of the love between God and His people or Christ and His church.
Biblical Usage
The book is part of the Scriptures and was esteemed as a sacred writing. Jewish and Christian interpreters have read it allegorically as expressing the love of God and His people, or Christ and the church, though the poem itself gives no explicit indication that it is an allegory.
