Shallecheth, The gate of
The gate of Shallecheth was one of the gates of the house of the Lord, situated beside the causeway of the ascent. Its name is associated with casting out or removal.
Biblical Usage
The gate is mentioned in 1 Chronicles 26:16 in connection with the temple arrangements and the causeway rising from the Tyropoeon, or valley of the cheesemakers.
