Sennacherib
Government & Society • Old Testament
Sennacherib was king of Assyria who invaded Judah during Hezekiah’s reign. His army threatened Jerusalem but was struck by divine judgment, and he was later killed by his sons.
Biblical Usage
Sennacherib’s campaign is recorded in Kings, Chronicles, and Isaiah. Hezekiah resisted his threats, sought the Lord, and received deliverance when the Assyrian army was struck down. Sennacherib’s death fulfilled the account of his sons killing him while he worshiped his god.
