To be quit means to be released from responsibility or guilt. The phrase “quit yourselves” means to conduct yourselves bravely or faithfully, especially in the New Testament exhortation to stand firm.
Biblical Usage
The term can describe being relieved of responsibility or declared guiltless. In the New Testament, “quit yourselves” means to behave like a man. In another passage, the English expression is a gloss meaning simply “to be.”
