Oracle
Scripture • Both
An oracle may mean a divine utterance or the Word of God. In the Old Testament it also refers to the Most Holy Place of the temple, while the New Testament uses the plural for God’s revealed words.
Biblical Usage
The Old Testament speaks of seeking God’s word at the oracle, including through the Urim and Thummim. The New Testament calls the Mosaic Law, the Old Testament, and Christian revelation the oracles of God; believers who speak must convey God’s message faithfully.
