Obadiah, Book of
Obal was a son of Joktan and is also called Ebal in Chronicles. He was regarded as an ancestor of an Arab tribe.
Biblical Usage
The book announces that proud Edom will be brought down, its allies will turn against it, and its violence toward Jerusalem will receive judgment. It also promises the return of Israel’s captives and the enlargement of Judah’s borders.
