Oak
An oath is a solemn appeal to God as witness to the truth of a statement or the keeping of a promise. Scripture condemns false and profane swearing while recognizing proper solemn oaths.
Biblical Usage
Oaks or related trees served as landmarks and meeting places and were associated with memorable events, burials, and places of worship. Scripture refers to the oaks of Bashan and to trees connected with Moreh, Shechem, Tabor, and other named places.
