Leviathan
Leviathan is a poetic name for a great water creature, most clearly a crocodile in Job 41 and Psalm 74. In other passages it represents a mighty sea creature or a symbolic enemy subdued by God.
Biblical Usage
Leviathan appears in Job, Psalms, and Isaiah. It represents a formidable creature under God’s power and, in figurative passages, may portray a cruel enemy or mighty empires subdued by divine judgment.
