Justice
Justice is the righteous treatment of others, including honest dealings, impartial judgment, and defense of the oppressed. Biblical justice reflects God’s righteousness and is joined with mercy and faithfulness.
Biblical Usage
Scripture requires just weights and measures and impartial courts that do not favor the rich, poor, Israelite, foreigner, or powerful. To seek justice includes relieving the oppressed, defending the fatherless, and pleading for the widow. Biblical justice is not merely strict retribution; it is joined with mercy and faithfulness.
