Jezreel
Jezreel was both a city and a region. The northern city became a royal residence of Israel and the scene of events involving Ahab, Naboth, Elijah, Jezebel, and Jehu; another Jezreel was a town in Judah.
Biblical Usage
Jezreel was the scene of Ahab’s royal residence, Naboth’s vineyard, prophetic judgment, and Jehu’s destruction of Ahab’s house. Hosea also gave the name Jezreel to his oldest son as a sign of coming judgment.
