Jehovah
God • Both
Jehovah is the distinctive covenant name by which God revealed Himself to Israel. It is associated with the eternal, self-existent, unchanging God who makes covenant with His people and is commonly represented in English Bibles as LORD.
Biblical Usage
Jehovah identifies God as the personal, holy Being who revealed Himself to Israel, made covenant with His people, became their lawgiver, and deserves their worship. The name was communicated to Moses as part of his commission to deliver Israel.
