JANNES AND JAMBRES
Jannes and Jambres were names given in the New Testament to Egyptian magicians who opposed Moses before Pharaoh. Their names are not recorded in the Old Testament, though Exodus describes the magicians’ resistance.
Biblical Usage
Paul names Jannes and Jambres in connection with those who opposed Moses. The Exodus account provides the underlying setting, describing wise men, sorcerers, and sacred scribes or magicians who imitated Moses’ signs.
