Jabesh-Gilead
Jabesh-gilead was a town east of the Jordan. Saul rescued it from the Ammonites, and its inhabitants later honored Saul by recovering and burying his remains after his death.
Biblical Usage
The town was delivered from Nahash the Ammonite by Saul. After Saul’s death, its men recovered and buried Saul and his sons, an act for which David commended them.
