INTERPRETATION
Interpretation is the careful explanation of another person’s meaning, especially the meaning of Scripture. Biblical interpretation seeks to understand the words in their language, literary setting, historical context, and unity as divine revelation.
Biblical Usage
The Scriptures are treated as both divine and human writings. Their languages, grammar, literary forms, and individual styles require ordinary literary principles, while their divine authorship and unity require attention to revelation, fulfillment, parallel passages, and the interpretive example of Christ and the apostles.
