Gentiles
Gentiles are people from the nations other than Israel. In the New Testament, the term commonly refers to non-Jews, who were included in the gospel through faith in Christ.
Biblical Usage
Gentiles were distinguished from Israel but, under Old Testament regulations, were to receive hospitality, justice, and love. In later Jewish usage the term acquired contemptuous associations. The New Testament reflects the distinction while using the term for non-Jewish peoples among whom the gospel was proclaimed.
