Gallio
Gallio was the Roman proconsul of Achaia when Paul ministered at Corinth. When Jewish accusers brought Paul before his judgment seat, Gallio refused to treat their religious dispute as a matter for Roman judgment.
Biblical Usage
When Jewish accusers brought Paul before Gallio, the proconsul refused to judge their dispute as a matter of Roman law. He drove them from the judgment seat and did not intervene in the subsequent beating of Sosthenes.
