FOOT
The foot was important in biblical hygiene, hospitality, travel, mourning, worship, and humble service. Figuratively, feet can represent one’s walk, conduct, submission, or proclamation.
Biblical Usage
Scripture presents foot-washing as hospitality and as a lowly service performed by servants and by Jesus for His disciples. Removing shoes marks holy ground, while dusting the feet can signify rejection. Feet also express mourning, submission to a conqueror, sitting as a learner, moral conduct, and the coming of a messenger.
