FEASTS AND FASTS
Festivals & Holy Days • Both
Biblical feasts and fasts were appointed days of worship, rest, remembrance, repentance, or thanksgiving. Israel’s calendar included pilgrimage festivals, Sabbaths, atonement, harvest celebrations, and later commemorative observances.
Biblical Usage
Passover recalled the exodus, Pentecost was associated with the wheat harvest, and Tabernacles with harvest and the wilderness journey. The Day of Atonement emphasized judgment, penitence, and forgiveness. Later fasts commemorated national calamities, while feasts marked dedication and victories.
