Literally, a deed or action. In the biblical usage it refers to a particular deed, including the murder of Onias, which others condemned as wickedness.
Biblical Usage
The term occurs in the heading concerning Jehu’s deed and in 2 Maccabees concerning the murder of Onias. The Greeks are described as joining others in hatred of that wicked deed.
