The face may mean a person’s presence, favor, attitude, or visible countenance. To seek God’s face means to seek His presence and favor, while the light of His face signifies blessing and acceptance.
Biblical Usage
To seek God’s face is to seek an audience with Him and His favor; to hide His face is to withdraw His presence or favor. The light of His countenance signifies favor. The face of Jesus Christ represents His person and office as revealer of God’s glory.
