Exodus, The
The Exodus was the departure of the Israelites from Egypt after the death of Egypt’s firstborn. Pharaoh released them, but pursued them until God delivered Israel through the miraculous passage of the Red Sea.
Biblical Usage
God delivered Israel through the passage of the sea while the pursuing Egyptians were destroyed. The event became the decisive beginning of Israel’s journey out of bondage.
