Esdraelon
Esdraelon is the Greek form of Jezreel, the great plain in central Palestine between the hills of Galilee and Samaria. It was a notable setting for battles involving Gideon, Barak, Saul, and Josiah.
Biblical Usage
The plain was the setting of important biblical battles. Gideon defeated the Midianites there, Barak defeated Sisera, Saul’s army was defeated by the Philistines, and Josiah was killed while fighting Necho of Egypt.
