Eleazar
Eleazar, son of Aaron, succeeded his father as high priest and supervised the sanctuary, priestly duties, and the distribution of Canaan. The name also belonged to several other priests, Levites, and warriors, and appears in the genealogy of Jesus.
Biblical Usage
Eleazar served as priest and adviser to Moses and Joshua, oversaw the tabernacle, succeeded Aaron, and helped divide the land among the tribes. Other men named Eleazar served with the ark, David’s army, and Ezra.
