Edom

Edom was the name given to Esau and to the mountainous land settled by his descendants southeast of Judah. The Edomites were related to Israel but frequently opposed the Israelites and were the subject of numerous prophetic judgments.
Biblical Usage
Edom was closely related to Israel through Esau but repeatedly opposed Israel. Edom refused Israel passage during the Exodus, fought Israelite kings, joined the Chaldeans against Jerusalem, and became the subject of many prophetic judgments.
