Dye
Agriculture & Daily Life • Both
Dye is the process of coloring materials such as wool, linen, or other cloth. Dyeing was an ancient craft, and Thyatira was known for this work in New Testament times.
Biblical Usage
Dyeing is associated with the manufacture of garments and priestly vestments, although the Old Testament does not make a specific statement about the craft itself. In the New Testament, Lydia of Thyatira was a seller of purple.
