A dunghill is a heap or place of refuse. Sitting on one or being cast upon one represents extreme poverty, disgrace, humiliation, or wretchedness.
Biblical Usage
Sitting on a dunghill depicts a condition of deep poverty and wretchedness. Turning a house into a dunghill or being thrown upon one expresses severe judgment and dishonor.
