A door-keeper was a person stationed at the entrance of a house or sacred place. The term can also describe the humble position of standing at the threshold of God’s house.
Biblical Usage
The psalmist expresses willingness to remain at the threshold of God’s house rather than dwell among iniquity. Door-keepers also appear at household entrances in the New Testament.
