DIVIDE
To divide may mean to separate, distribute, or cut. In 2 Timothy 2:15, “rightly dividing” is better understood as handling or teaching the word of truth correctly.
Biblical Usage
The term is used of distributing money, of a divided heart, and of the sea being stirred or stilled, depending on translation. In 2 Timothy 2:15, “rightly dividing the word of truth” is understood more literally as handling the word of truth rightly or holding a straight course in it.
