Dew
Agriculture & Daily Life • Both
Dew is nighttime moisture that was especially important for the fertility of Palestine during the dry season. Scripture uses it as a picture of God’s blessing, refreshment, abundance, and sometimes the fleeting nature of goodness.
Biblical Usage
Scripture associates dew with fertility, prosperity, blessing, refreshment, and spiritual abundance. Its withdrawal represents divine judgment or curse. Dew also pictures a multitude, brotherly harmony, and the fleeting goodness of the hypocrite.
