Decrees of God
The decrees of God are His eternal, wise, holy, sovereign, and unchangeable purposes concerning all that comes to pass. They include both the ends He appoints and the means, conditions, and causes through which they are fulfilled.
Biblical Usage
Scripture presents God’s decrees as eternal, unchangeable, and comprehensive. They include events God brings about directly and events He permits free agents to effect. The doctrine is intended to produce humility, confidence, and reliance upon God’s wisdom, righteousness, goodness, and immutability.
