Daughter ordinarily means a female child, but Scripture also uses it for a granddaughter, female descendant, women or inhabitants of a place, dependent towns, branches, and those sharing a characteristic or identity.
Biblical Usage
Expressions such as “daughters of Zion” may mean the women or whole population of Jerusalem. “Daughters of music” denotes singing women or birds, and cities may be personified as daughters.
