DAPHNE
Daphne was a famous suburb and sanctuary near Antioch on the Orontes. It became known for its grove, temple of Apollo, asylum, luxury, and moral corruption during the Hellenistic period.
Biblical Usage
Daphne is connected with the Maccabean account of Onias the high priest, who fled there for refuge but was lured from the sanctuary and killed.
