Curse
A curse is a solemn pronouncement of judgment or evil, often contrasted with blessing. Scripture presents God’s curse as effective judgment for sin, while commanding believers to bless those who curse them.
Biblical Usage
God pronounced curses against the serpent and Cain, while prophets and other holy persons pronounced predictive curses. Scripture forbids cursing parents, rulers, and the deaf, and treats blaspheming God as punishable by death. Paul connects the curse of the law with Christ’s death on the cross, and Jesus commands His disciples to bless those who curse them.
