Cubit
Measures & Money • Both
A cubit was an ancient unit of length based on the forearm, generally from the elbow to the end of the middle finger. Scripture reflects both ordinary and longer, or royal, standards of the cubit.
Biblical Usage
The cubit is used for dimensions in biblical measurements and appears in descriptions of the temple, the giant’s bed, Ehud’s weapon, the distance of the disciples’ boat from shore, and the wall of the New Jerusalem.
