Crown

Objects & Symbols • Both
A crown was a head ornament signifying royalty, honor, consecration, victory, or reward. Scripture also uses crowns symbolically for Christ’s authority and for the enduring reward promised to faithful believers.
Biblical Usage
The high priest wore a consecration crown, and kings wore royal crowns. Biblical writers contrast fading crowns of earthly victory with the incorruptible crown, crown of life, and crown that does not fade. Crowns and diadems also symbolize dominion, Christ’s exaltation, and faithful Christian service.
