Cord
A cord is a rope or line used for fastening, binding, measuring, or handling goods. Scripture also uses cords figuratively for sin, affliction, friendship, God’s laws, and the consequences of wrongdoing.
Biblical Usage
Scripture uses cords literally for tents, binding, measuring land, ships, and the whip made by Jesus. Figuratively, cords represent affliction, sin and its consequences, falsehood, God’s laws, wicked devices, friendship, gentleness, and union.
