Cold refers to low temperature, especially the chill experienced in Palestine’s mountains and winter nights. Scripture also uses it figuratively for cooling love and for spiritual indifference, as in being neither cold nor hot.
Biblical Usage
The Bible describes people warming themselves at fires, fearing exposure to cold, and appreciating cold water in heat. Figuratively, love may grow cold, and spiritual condition may be described as neither cold nor hot.
