Cloud
Clouds provide rain and shade, but Scripture also uses them as symbols of God’s hidden glory, presence, guidance, judgment, and the transitory nature of life. God led Israel by a pillar of cloud, and Christ is described as coming with clouds.
Biblical Usage
God manifested his presence and glory in a cloud, led Israel by the pillar of cloud, and filled the tabernacle and temple with the glory-cloud. Christ is described as coming with clouds. Clouds also symbolize false promises, passing prosperity, judgment, hidden glory, and the blotting out of sins.
