Claudius
Claudius was the fourth Roman emperor, reigning from A.D. 41 to 54. During his reign Jews were expelled from Rome, and a famine occurred in the apostolic period (Acts 11:28; 18:2).
Biblical Usage
During Claudius’s reign a famine occurred, and Jews were expelled from Rome; Aquila and Priscilla were among those associated with this expulsion. Herod Agrippa’s persecution of the church and the death of James also occurred during the reign of Claudius.
