Case ordinarily refers to a person’s circumstances or condition. In legal contexts it may mean the matter or charge for which an account must be given.
Biblical Usage
The word can describe a person’s situation, as in being in an evil case, and can refer juridically to a matter brought for consideration or reckoning. In Exodus 5:19 the Revised Version explains the expression as being set on mischief.
